Terms of service

Using Narwhal
Narwhal API is operated by Nusantara Ventures, LLC. These terms govern the website, REST API, MCP endpoint, and any WebSocket service made available to your account. By creating an account or using an API key, you agree to these terms and the Acceptable Use Policy. Purchasing a subscription also requires accepting these terms at checkout.
Accounts and keys
You are responsible for your account and API key. Keep the key secret, do not share it publicly, and tell us promptly if it is exposed. The dashboard shows your current plan, quota and usage. Free access does not automatically become a paid subscription.
Subscriptions and payment
A paid plan starts after payment is confirmed. Basic costs $60 monthly or $600 yearly; Pro costs $150 monthly or $1,500 yearly. Checkout shows the plan, recurring price in US dollars, billing interval, total and any tax charged before you confirm payment. Your payment method is charged at checkout and automatically each month or year, according to your selected billing period, until you cancel. Yearly plans are paid in full upfront. The billing portal shows your renewal date and invoices. We do not charge automatic usage overages.
Planning prices and unreleased features are not an offer of active paid access. Your subscription covers the features and limits available for the plan you select at checkout. A future price change must be communicated before it applies to your renewal, so you can cancel before that charge.
Request quotas
REST, MCP and metered WebSocket quotes share the monthly request allowance shown in your dashboard. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each calendar month, independently of your subscription renewal date, including on yearly plans. Unused quota does not carry over. Buying a subscription or changing plans does not erase requests already used in that calendar month.
When you reach the allowance or a request-rate limit, requests may be rejected until the applicable limit resets. A plan change or cancellation can leave your existing usage above the new plan's limit. In that case, further metered requests remain unavailable until usage is within the limit for a new cycle.
Streaming access
The economic events stream is available on every plan: one connection on Free, two on Basic and ten on Pro. Each connection uses one request from your monthly allowance; the events delivered on it do not.
Market-data WebSocket streaming is available only when it is enabled for your paid account. The stream documentation and connection response describe the supported symbols, message accounting, connection limits and freshness fields. Each valid quote admitted for delivery uses one unit of your shared monthly allowance, including cached snapshots and each delivery to a separate connection. Subscription commands and pings do not use quota. A network interruption can prevent receipt after a quote has been admitted. An API subscription does not promise unlimited streaming, every instrument in the daily-data catalogue, complete tick history or uninterrupted delivery. Cached snapshots and delayed quotes are identified separately from new updates.
Cancellation and plan changes
To stop automatic renewal, open Dashboard → Billing, choose Payment and invoices, and cancel your subscription in the billing portal before its renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; confirmed paid access remains available until then, subject to these terms. You can see the cancellation date in Billing. If a plan change is scheduled for the end of the period, the portal cannot change or cancel your subscription until then; to cancel, email hello@narwhalapi.com so support can release the scheduled change.
After the paid period ends, the account falls back to Free limits. Revoking an API key, disconnecting a stream, or stopping use does not cancel a subscription. Self-service changes between paid plans are available only when offered in the billing portal, which must show any charge and effective date before you confirm a change.
Payment failures
If a payment fails or a subscription is no longer active and paid, paid access is unavailable until a successful payment is confirmed. The account is limited to its available Free allowance. Use Billing to update your payment method and review outstanding invoices. Payment collection may be retried; cancel in the portal to stop future renewals.
Refunds and billing corrections
Cancellation does not automatically produce a prorated refund for unused portions of a monthly or yearly billing period, or unused quota. If a charge is duplicated or incorrect, or the service does not work as described, contact hello@narwhalapi.com with the invoice reference and a description of the issue. We review the charge and the appropriate correction or remedy. Do not send card details or API keys.
Nothing in these terms limits a refund, cancellation or other remedy that applicable law requires. A refund request does not itself cancel automatic renewal; manage cancellation separately in the billing portal.
Data and availability
Narwhal normalises data from official publishers, licensed data providers and public prediction markets. We aim to preserve source meaning, units and timestamps. Data may be corrected, delayed, unavailable or revised. Coverage is limited to published instruments, periods and features. Paid plans include the service level below; there is no delivery-latency guarantee. Do not use the data for trade execution, clearing, settlement, benchmark construction or regulatory reporting. The data is not financial, investment, legal or tax advice.
Using the data
For accounts created on or after 9 October 2026, these data-use rules apply. Earlier accounts keep the previous data-use terms while they stay on their current plan, unless they choose these terms instead. That version remains at /terms/archive.
You may use responses internally and store and cache them to run your product.
On paid plans, you may display raw or derived data to your own end users on your own website, app, reports or AI assistant, including paid products. You do not need to credit Narwhal.
On the Free plan, you may display data to your own end users on your own website, app, reports or AI assistant, including commercial products. Show a visible link reading "Data by Narwhal API" to https://narwhalapi.com on any page or screen that shows the data.
You may not pass on raw or derived data through your own API, SDK, data feed, file export or dataset, or build a competing data product from it, unless your plan or a separate written agreement with us expressly allows it.
The redistribution limit above does not restrict what an open licence or the public domain lets you do with a series. If you reuse or redistribute those series, keep the publisher credit and licence notice shown on /methodology. Mark changes and retain notices of earlier changes. Keep share-alike series share-alike. Do not imply publisher endorsement. Third-party material keeps its own terms.
Prediction market data
Prediction probabilities are derived from public prices on third-party prediction markets, including Kalshi and Polymarket. Narwhal API is not affiliated with or endorsed by these markets. The data is not an offer to trade or bet, or advice. Each market settles under its own rules. Prices may be delayed; the Free plan has a 15-minute delay. You are responsible for complying with the laws where you use or display this data.
Service level (paid plans)
We commit to 99.5% monthly availability of the API for Basic and Pro, measured by our public uptime monitor. If a month falls below 99.5%, we publish a written incident report on the status page within five business days. The commitment covers API availability, not how quickly publishers release data, and excludes announced maintenance, publisher outages and misuse.
Suspension and deletion
We may restrict access that threatens the service, breaks these terms or creates legal or security risk, including when source rights are withdrawn. To request account deletion, contact support. An active subscription must be canceled and its billing state resolved before account deletion can complete; deleting an API key is not a substitute. Records needed for billing, security, legal obligations or resolving disputes may be retained as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, we provide the service and data “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim all express and implied warranties, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. This does not limit our express service-level commitments or your rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer law.
Limitation of liability and remedies
Nusantara Ventures, LLC operates Narwhal API. To the extent the law allows, service credit is your sole and exclusive remedy for any failure of Narwhal API or its data. Credits provide up to 3 free months of your current paid plan in any 12 months. Free-plan users receive no credits. We provide no cash reimbursement. Credits are not cash, cannot be transferred, and expire when your account closes. We exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, and lost data. We also exclude liability for losses from trading, investment or other financial decisions made using the data, and for downstream consequences of those decisions. If money claims remain available, our total liability for all claims relating to Narwhal API is limited to the fees you paid for Narwhal API in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including non-waivable consumer rights.
Indemnity
Where the law allows, you will cover Nusantara Ventures, LLC’s losses and reasonable legal costs from third-party claims caused by your unlawful use of the service, breach of these terms or infringement of others’ rights. This excludes claims caused by our breach or misconduct.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms by posting a new version and its effective date. Previous versions remain at /terms/archive. Accounts created before 9 October 2026 keep their previous data-use terms while they stay on their current plan, unless they choose these terms instead.
Governing law
Delaware law governs these terms. Disputes must be brought in the state or federal courts in Delaware. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
