Narwhal API MCP server
Connect AI tools to read-only economic and financial data through one authenticated MCP endpoint.
Narwhal hosts one stateless Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint for read-only financial data tools. It uses the same API key, response schemas and account quota as the REST API.

Authentication: Authorization: Bearer YOUR_NARWHAL_API_KEY
Connect a client
Choose the client-specific connection guide:
Claude Code
Configure the remote HTTP server with a static Bearer header from the command line.
Claude setup guide →Cursor
Add the hosted server to .cursor/mcp.json with a secret header placeholder.
VS Code
Add a remote HTTP server to .vscode/mcp.json and enter the key through an input variable.
Other MCP clients can use the same endpoint when they support authenticated Streamable HTTP and a configurable Authorization header. Start with the protocol-neutral MCP guide.
Tool catalogue
Use tools/list after authentication to discover the tools enabled for the current public release. The detailed catalogue and matching REST references are maintained in the MCP documentation.

Access and quota
| Rule | Meaning |
|---|---|
| API key | Create a Narwhal account and send the key as an HTTP Bearer token. See authentication. |
| Read-only tools | MCP tools retrieve published data; they do not mutate your account or upstream sources. |
| Quota | Initialization and tools/list do not consume data quota. Each successful tools/call consumes one request, shared with REST. |
| Errors | Tool errors expose the same public status, code, detail and request ID model as REST. See errors and quota. |
Discovery files
Machine-readable server descriptions:
/server.json— endpoint and authentication details in MCP Registry format./.well-known/mcp/server-card.json— an experimental MCP Server Card.
These files describe the endpoint and authentication requirement. They do not replace runtime authentication or tools/list.
