Terms of service until 9 October 2026

Last updated September 30, 2026

Using Narwhal

Narwhal API is operated by Nusantara Ventures, LLC. These terms govern the website, REST API, MCP endpoint, and any WebSocket service made available to your account. By creating an account or using an API key, you agree to these terms and the Acceptable Use Policy. Purchasing a subscription also requires accepting these terms at checkout.

Accounts and keys

You are responsible for your account and API key. Keep the key secret, do not share it publicly, and tell us promptly if it is exposed. The dashboard shows your current plan, quota and usage. Free access does not automatically become a paid subscription.

Subscriptions and payment

A paid plan starts after payment is confirmed. Basic costs $60 monthly or $600 yearly; Pro costs $150 monthly or $1,500 yearly. Checkout shows the plan, recurring price in US dollars, billing interval, total and any tax charged before you confirm payment. Your payment method is charged at checkout and automatically each month or year, according to your selected billing period, until you cancel. Yearly plans are paid in full upfront. The billing portal shows your renewal date and invoices. We do not charge automatic usage overages.

Planning prices and unreleased features are not an offer of active paid access. Your subscription covers the features and limits available for the plan you select at checkout. A future price change must be communicated before it applies to your renewal, so you can cancel before that charge.

Request quotas

REST, MCP and metered WebSocket quotes share the monthly request allowance shown in your dashboard. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each calendar month, independently of your subscription renewal date, including on yearly plans. Unused quota does not carry over. Buying a subscription or changing plans does not erase requests already used in that calendar month.

When you reach the allowance or a request-rate limit, requests may be rejected until the applicable limit resets. A plan change or cancellation can leave your existing usage above the new plan's limit. In that case, further metered requests remain unavailable until usage is within the limit for a new cycle.

Streaming access

The economic events stream is available on every plan: one connection on Free, two on Basic and ten on Pro. Each connection uses one request from your monthly allowance; the events delivered on it do not.

Market-data WebSocket streaming is available only when it is enabled for your paid account. The stream documentation and connection response describe the supported symbols, message accounting, connection limits and freshness fields. Each valid quote admitted for delivery uses one unit of your shared monthly allowance, including cached snapshots and each delivery to a separate connection. Subscription commands and pings do not use quota. A network interruption can prevent receipt after a quote has been admitted. An API subscription does not promise unlimited streaming, every instrument in the daily-data catalogue, complete tick history or uninterrupted delivery. Cached snapshots and delayed quotes are identified separately from new updates.

Cancellation and plan changes

To stop automatic renewal, open Dashboard → Billing, choose Payment and invoices, and cancel your subscription in the billing portal before its renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; confirmed paid access remains available until then, subject to these terms. You can see the cancellation date in Billing. If a plan change is scheduled for the end of the period, the portal cannot change or cancel your subscription until then; to cancel, email hello@narwhalapi.com so support can release the scheduled change.

After the paid period ends, the account falls back to Free limits. Revoking an API key, disconnecting a stream, or stopping use does not cancel a subscription. Self-service changes between paid plans are available only when offered in the billing portal, which must show any charge and effective date before you confirm a change.

Payment failures

If a payment fails or a subscription is no longer active and paid, paid access is unavailable until a successful payment is confirmed. The account is limited to its available Free allowance. Use Billing to update your payment method and review outstanding invoices. Payment collection may be retried; cancel in the portal to stop future renewals.

Refunds and billing corrections

Cancellation does not automatically produce a prorated refund for unused portions of a monthly or yearly billing period, or unused quota. If a charge is duplicated or incorrect, or the service does not work as described, contact hello@narwhalapi.com with the invoice reference and a description of the issue. We review the charge and the appropriate correction or remedy. Do not send card details or API keys.

Nothing in these terms limits a refund, cancellation or other remedy that applicable law requires. A refund request does not itself cancel automatic renewal; manage cancellation separately in the billing portal.

Data and availability

Narwhal normalises data from official publishers and licensed sources. We aim to preserve the source's meaning, units and timestamps. Data may be corrected, delayed, unavailable or revised. Coverage is limited to the published instruments, periods and features. Paid plans include the service level below; there is no delivery-latency guarantee. The data is not financial, investment, legal or tax advice.

Using the data

Every plan may use Narwhal responses in internal tools and in your own apps, websites, reports and AI assistants, including paid products. Show the source credit given with each series. You may store and cache responses to run your product.

Where a source licence permits downstream reuse, you may use Narwhal responses under that source licence, subject to its attribution, share-alike, modification-marking, and other conditions. Keep the linked source notice with redistributed or adapted outputs, identify Narwhal's normalization or derived changes, and do not imply that an official publisher endorses Narwhal or your use. Separately marked third-party material remains subject to its own terms.

Most series come under open licences, such as CC BY 4.0 or government open licences, and remain under them. Share-alike series must stay share-alike if you publish adapted data. FX and other series from licensed providers may be displayed to your users but not passed on as data.

Without an Enterprise licence, you may not resell or re-expose the service as an API, feed or bulk download, or copy a substantial part of the Narwhal database into a competing data product. Contact hello@narwhalapi.com about resale rights.

Service level (paid plans)

We commit to 99.5% monthly availability of the API for Basic and Pro, measured by our public uptime monitor. If a month falls below 99.5%, we publish a written incident report on the status page within five business days. The commitment covers API availability, not how quickly publishers release data, and excludes announced maintenance, publisher outages and misuse.

Suspension and deletion

We may restrict access that threatens the service, breaks these terms or creates legal or security risk, including when source rights are withdrawn. To request account deletion, contact support. An active subscription must be canceled and its billing state resolved before account deletion can complete; deleting an API key is not a substitute. Records needed for billing, security, legal obligations or resolving disputes may be retained as explained in the Privacy Policy.
