At a glance
Every FMP figure comes from FMP's own pages, read without an account or key. Narwhal appears as a reference column. Narwhal API is owned and operated by Nusantara Ventures, LLC.

Price at your usage
FMP sets limits per minute and per day, and the pricing page shows no monthly call count, so a price per 1,000 calls cannot be computed. Narwhal's is plan price divided by included calls, times 1,000: Basic $59 / 100,000 x 1,000 = $0.59, Pro $149 / 1,000,000 x 1,000 = $0.149.
| Requests per month | Narwhal API | Financial Modeling Prep |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | Free: $0/month | Basic: $0, as 250 calls a day is enough. The calendar needs Starter at $29 a month ($19 billed yearly) |
| 10,000 | Basic: $59/month | Over the free limit, which is about 7,500 in 30 days. Starter: $29 a month at 300 calls a minute |
| 100,000 | Basic: $59/month | Starter again, $29 a month. The page states no monthly cap, only 300 a minute and 20GB per 30 days. Personal use only |

The licence blocks the product
A paid personal plan does not cover an app used by several people. If customers will see FMP data, the route is the Enterprise quote, and the pricing page shows no figure for it.
Your macro data is not American
FMP's 24 indicators are all US series. Other countries come through the calendar, which starts at Starter. Narwhal publishes national series for 37 countries as their statistics offices issue them.
You want a call count to budget against
Paid FMP plans publish minute rates and bandwidth caps. Extra calls and bandwidth come from paid add-ons, in a dashboard tab added on 21 May. Narwhal states monthly requests, and errors do not use any.
When they are the better pick
FMP is the better pick for stock-market work. It claims 70,000+ securities, 60+ exchanges and 30+ years of daily prices and fundamentals, and Ultimate adds transcripts, 13F filings, ETF holdings and bulk endpoints. Treasury rates and the market risk premium cost nothing extra, and exchange hours and holidays cover every exchange on the free plan. Starter at $29 a month gives annual fundamentals only; Premium at $69 adds full ones. Narwhal has no consensus forecasts, while FMP lists 10+ years of estimates.
Questions
Can I use FMP in a commercial product?
Not on the self-serve plans. The terms limit them to one individual's non-business use and bar use as an employee or contractor, or for business intelligence. Showing data in a site or app used by several people needs a separate agreement. Commercial access is Enterprise through a contact form, and exchange data may add exchange fees.
Which FMP plan includes the economic calendar?
Starter and above. Basic has none, Starter is limited to a 1-year range, and Premium and Ultimate are unrestricted. Economic indicators, Treasury rates and the market risk premium are on all four plans, including free.
Does FMP have an MCP server?
Yes, a hosted one at financialmodelingprep.com/mcp with the key in the URL. It costs nothing extra and calls count against your plan. A POST with no key returned HTTP 401 on 3 November. The changelog says 27 tools since 27 March, and the MCP page gives no count.
Where do FMP's own pages disagree?
The Basic card claims 150+ endpoints and the home page 100+. The personal view counts 100,000+ customers and the commercial view 1,000+ businesses. A card says Ultimate adds 1-minute charts, while the matrix gives them to Premium for US, UK and Canada. The FAQ says 30+ years, yet Basic and Starter stop at 5.
Is FMP's free plan enough to test with?
For a first look, yes. It covers a fixed list of symbols (AAPL, TSLA, AMZN and 84 more), caps statements at 5 rows a call and limits profiles to US exchanges. It leaves out batch quotes, intraday charts, news, the IPO and economic calendars, the screener, transcripts, 13F filings and ETF holdings.
Does FMP cover Japan and Korea company financials?
No page read for this review says so. Global coverage starts at Ultimate, and neither country is named. Its SEC filings endpoints are US only, and the free plan returns 20 rows and one page.
