How is this calculated?
We average the consumer price index for each selected year, divide the end year's average by the start year's, then multiply by your amount. The index tracks average household prices, so your costs may have changed at a different rate.
Where does the data come from?
Each country's official monthly consumer price index, as published by its statistics office and read through the Narwhal Economics API.
Why is my result different from another calculator?
Calculators may use different price indexes, single months instead of yearly averages, or older data. We average the latest published monthly index by year, using the months published so far for the current year.
How far back does the data go?
It depends on the country. The card below the calculator shows the first available year. Choose from the calculator's available years.
Which countries are covered?
The country list shows every country we have full price history for. We add more as we publish their consumer price data.
