About these indices
An index tracks a basket of shares, so one number shows how a market moved. The S&P 500 follows 500 large US companies; the Cboe UK 100 follows 100 of the largest companies listed in London.
The code is the id you pass to the API, such as SPX for the S&P 500 or DJI for the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Codes work in any case.
Last close is the level at the end of the last full trading day. Region is the market the index covers, and currency is what the level is counted in. VIX, OVX and GVZ measure expected volatility, not money, so they have no currency.

What is the ticker symbol for the S&P 500?
SPX. Pass it as the id, as in /v1/indices/SPX/price. The Nasdaq-100 is NDX and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is DJI.
What is the VIX?
The Cboe Volatility Index. It measures how much traders expect the S&P 500 to move over the next 30 days, worked out from option prices. OVX does the same for crude oil and GVZ for gold.
Which indices can I get?
18 indices: five US benchmarks, three volatility indices, two MSCI global indices, five Cboe Europe indices and three US sector indices. An id is the standard code, such as SPX, NDX or DJI, in any case.
Are levels live or delayed?
Free levels are 15 minutes late and carry delayed: true. Basic and Pro levels are live. When a market is closed, the API answers with the last level and market_session closed.
How much history can I get?
History starts where we hold it: the S&P 500 begins in February 2023. Free gets daily bars for the last 12 months, Basic the last 5 years and Pro everything we hold. One minute bars are for Basic and Pro, cover the last 12 months and run at most 5 days a request.
