Common questions

Which holidays are included?

We use national public holidays from each government's official list. If holidays vary by region, such as England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, we name the region next to each holiday.

Are banks and stock markets closed on these days?

Usually, but not always. Exchanges and central banks publish their own calendars, which can differ from public holidays. This page shows public holidays only.

Why are some countries missing?

We add dates for each country and year after its government publishes them. Some countries announce dates late, and our coverage starts later for others. The count at the top shows how many countries have dates for this year.

Can I use these dates in my own app?

Yes. The holidays API returns every public holiday for a country and year, or tells you whether a given date is a holiday. The free plan includes it.
