Match national CPI to its reference month
The reference month identifies the period the national figures describe. The release on 23 January 2026 covers December 2025 data. The 2025-base CPI starts with August 2026 data, released on 18 September 2026.
Keep Tokyo releases separate
The table lists national CPI releases only. Preliminary CPI for the Tokyo ward area covers the same month and comes out about a week after the national release, near the end of each month. Read each national publication date with its 08:30 Japan time release time.
